SWLA  Master Naturalists are people who love the outdoors and have a passion for preserving the natural beauty of Southwest Louisiana.  They are dedicated to promoting and protecting Louisiana’s natural resources.  They provide education, outreach, and services dedicated to the conservation and management of our community’s natural ecosystem.

Become a Southwest Louisiana Master Naturalist

The Southwest Louisiana Master Naturalists are a growing group of volunteers dedicated to promoting the conservation and stewardship of the natural resources of Louisiana.
How to become a certified Southwest Louisiana Master Naturalist: 
●    Complete a total of 48 hours of courses offered each spring (Saturday workshops January–July) 
●    $200 one-time course fee ​
Annual requirements after the first year:
​●    20 volunteer hours 
●    8 continuing education hours
●    $15 annual membership dues

What do SWLA Master Naturalists do?

Southwest Master Naturalists are volunteers that provide education, outreach, and services dedicated to the conservation and management of our natural resources. 

Stewardship

SWLA Master Naturalists are dedicated to promoting and protecting Louisiana's natural resources. 

Citizen Science

SWLA Master Naturalists are citizen scientists aiding in documenting, observing, and collecting data for conservation and management purposes for our community's natural resources. 

Education

SWLA Master Naturalists provide outreach, education, and services that promote greater public awareness and understanding of conservation efforts.
